DESCRIPTION

Recruitment of a post-doctoral contract for the LUE-B4B Project: Extraction, Purification, and Encapsulation of Biomolecules

Principal Investigator: Stéphane DESOBRY

Job Description:

The LUE-B4B project, in collaboration with European laboratories and industries, aims to conduct research on the valorization of biomolecules derived from marine resources (algae and microalgae).

The objective of this program is to establish methods for the extraction, purification, and encapsulation of natural biomolecules with biological activities that can be applied in the fields of nutrition and health, human or veterinary health products, or in cosmetic and food ingredients.

To achieve these objectives, we plan to strengthen the research team at the Biomolecule Engineering Laboratory (LIBio) by recruiting a fixed-term research engineer.

Project Overview:

MISSIONS:

Assigned to LIBio:

  • Design, develop, and optimize green extraction methods to isolate lipid, protein, and carbohydrate fractions from plant and algal biomass, integrating eco-friendly techniques.
  • Characterize the extracted fractions using analytical methods and identify potential applications in the fields of biotechnology, agri-food, and cosmetics.
  • Design and optimize encapsulation methods for the extracted biomolecules to improve their stability and bioavailability.
  • Evaluate various encapsulation techniques and analyze their impact on functional properties for applications in the agri-food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Coordinate research activities within the team, including planning experiments and analyzing results, while fostering collaborations with other laboratories, research institutes, and industrial partners.
  • Manage projects for the development of products derived from plant extracts for the aforementioned markets.
  • Ensure effective communication of results and continuously improve assigned functions.
  • Supervise technical staff dedicated to these activities.
  • Education: Master’s degree (Bac+5) or PhD
  • Experience: Laboratory experience is mandatory; experience in the field of natural substances would be a significant asset.
  • Skills: In-depth knowledge of natural substances, expertise in chemistry (extraction), physical-chemistry, and encapsulation processes.
  • Languages: Excellent writing skills and strong proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Personal qualities: We are looking for an organized, meticulous (adherence to guidelines and validation of results), creative, and communicative individual with good analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Duration: Full-time, 35 hours per week
