The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) conducts research in occupational and environmental medicine, toxicology, epidemiology, and physiology, with the aim to clarify how environmental and lifestyle factors affect human health. IMM educates students, doctoral students and professionals in areas including work and health, toxicology, epidemiology, and biostatistics, and is responsible for the Master’s Programme in Work and Health and the Master’s Programme in Toxicology at Karolinska Institutet. IMM is a national expert body in environmental medicine. Researchers at IMM serve as scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers and participate in national and international expert groups.
Occupational and environmental medicine is a field focused on identifying, assessing, and preventing health risks caused by factors in the work environment and the surrounding environment. The field spans perspectives from the individual to society, and includes research aimed at identifying and quantifying the impact of risk factors on ill health, prevention through the development of evidence for legislation, knowledge dissemination, and education. This senior lectureship focuses on physical and chemical risk factors.
You will be the course responsible teacher and examiner for the course Working Life and Health within the Master’s Programme in Work and Health, teach in the course and in other courses within the programme, and carry out pedagogical development work in courses within the programme.
You will independently conduct and lead research in occupational and environmental medicine, specifically within physical and chemical occupational and environmental medicine, and supervise doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers.
You will participate to IMM’s mission as a national expert body in environmental medicine according to Ordinance (1994:1244) on the Institute of Environmental Medicine, specifically within physical and chemical environmental medicine, by among other things providing authorities with scientifically substantiated evidence.
To be eligible for an employment as Senior Lecturer with focus on education and research, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated excellent pedagogical skills and very good scientific skills.

It is a requirement that you have completed 10 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education as indicated in the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institution.
The Senior Lectureship has a focus on education and research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: scientific skills (2), pedagogical skills (3), leadership and collaboration skills (2).
