YOUR TASKS

This 35% position combines teaching with research activities in the fields of comics studies, with a strong focus on South East Asian comics, especially Hong Kong comics cultures. In addition to research, the candidate is expected to contribute to the Comics and Graphic Novel MA course in Fall 2026 and a guest lecture on Hong Kong comics and/or a drawing workshop in Spring 2027.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• You hold a thesis-based doctorate in literary or cultural studies. 
• You already have at least four years of postdoctoral seniority
• You have thorough knowledge of Hong Kong comics (magazines) and graphic novels 
• You have solid knowledge about additional South East Asian comics cultures, especially illustrated magazines from the late nineteenth century. 
• You have experience in teaching comics studies to BA and MA students. You have additional experience in leading brief workshops related to comics making.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

• We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 1 year.
•  Your contract will start on 11/09/2026 at the earliest.
