The Nottingham Transportation Engineering Centre (NTEC) is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow for a full-time position in the field of sustainable pavement engineering for an initial period of 18 months. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with NTEC’s internationally recognised academic team on various projects focused on the development, design, and modelling of future paving materials. The successful candidate will have the chance to engage in the development of novel research methods, extend their research portfolio and contribute to the evolution of technologies such as the use of low carbon materials, bio-extenders/additives and bio-bitumens in road pavements. Working closely with industry and agency partners, the role holder will ensure that research outcomes influence future developments and widespread use.

In this capacity, the Research Fellow will be expected to prepare high-quality research outputs and grant proposals, including publications in leading journals and other relevant platforms. Candidates should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Civil, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering, or a closely related field from a research-led university. Advanced knowledge in pavement engineering is highly desirable, and experience with computational modelling and road material testing is preferred.

The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract for 18 months. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr. Anand Sreeram (Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering). Email: anand.sreeram@nottingham.ac.uk Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
