You will be working in the research division Organic Synthesis (ORSY) of the Department of Chemistry. ORSY is a coordinator of the Centre of Excellence Catalysis for Sustainable Organic Chemistry of the University of Antwerp. Your research project will deal with the development of new synthetic methodologies in the field of heterocyclic chemistry to effectively functionalize (renewable) building blocks for the fine chemicals industry. The synthetic methodologies will include C-H bond functionalization. Your research fits in the framework of a project funded by the Fund for Scientific Research – Flanders (FWO).
The ideal candidate for this position will have a PhD in organic synthesis (experience with purification techniques and structural characterization of organic molecules). Experience with C-H functionalization and heterocyclic chemistry is an advantage. The ability to work in a team, interest to be involved in a multipartner research project, as well as good communication/writing skills and a good mastery of the English language is essential.
The University of Antwerp offers you a contract of 1 year (which can be extended). Relevant experience will be taken into account. The selected candidate is expected to begin (at latest) in the spring/summer of 2020. For more information on the ORSY team visit our group website.
