Position overview: join our team to advance the frontiers of planetary science and astrobiology. Focus on exploring planetary geology, atmospheres, and potential for life, with a specific interest in Mars, outer planets, asteroids, and comets. Engage in the characterization of exoplanets and the search for extraterrestrial life, including the study of extreme environments and planetary habitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Planetary Exploration: Investigate Mars and other celestial bodies (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, asteroids, and comets) to understand their geology, climate, and potential for life. Exoplanet Characterization: Discover and characterize exoplanets using techniques such as transit observations, direct imaging, and spectroscopy. Study their atmospheres, compositions, and habitability.
Astrobiology: Research the origins of life, study extremophiles, and explore the potential for life beyond Earth. Investigate planetary habitability and the conditions required for life.
Teaching: Provide undergraduate and graduate instruction in planetary science, astrobiology, and related topics. Mentored students and oversaw research projects in these fields.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Planetary Science, Astrobiology, Astronomy, or a related field. Demonstrated expertise in planetary exploration, exoplanet characterization, and astrobiology. Strong publication record and a clear research vision. Effective teaching skills and experience in course development. Collaborative mindset with experience in interdisciplinary research and partnerships.
