Job description

In collaboration with IMEC, KIT, LIRMM, and EPFL, KTH is developing a design flow for implementing digital designs in an innovative and challenging monolithic 3D integration technology. Over the years, KTH has developed a Lego-inspired design framework to enable composition by abutment to create timing and DRC clean designs. The postdoc will adopt composition by abutment to implement elementary to complex micro-architectural blocks in terms of atomic bit-slices and interconnect elements. The design and its cost model should be composable and able to predict latency and power consumption accurately. The developed design method will be manual initially but amenable to automation later in the project.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made. The degree should be in VSLI design, CMOS, physical design, and design automation.
  • A deep understanding of modern CMOS technology, manufacturing, TCAD, and technology design rules.     
  • The candidate is expected to have played a critical role in a tapeout of a design in some technology node like 22 nm or below.   
  • Strong experience using commercial EDA tools, especially back end, full-custom, SPICE modelling, HDL-AMS.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, command over oral and written English.
  • Team player, self-driven, and creative.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
  • Strong background in the use of modern AI/ML techniques for backend EDA challenges is highly desirable.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with a specific focus on gender equality.
  • Ability to teach under-graduate courses in digital design, ASIC Design and HDL.
  • Strong publication record.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment
