Third-cycle subject: Machine design , with specialization in mechatronics for internal combustion engines
The growing demand for environmentally-neutral transport is a key driver behind the increased integration of IC engine mechanics, thermodynamics and mechatronic subsystems. The PhD position advertised here is a collaboration between the Internal Combustion Engineering at KTH Department, Scania CV AB and FFI.
The project aims to reduce the environmental impact of engines for heavy vehicles through the use of the latest mechatronics. The research focus is on how to avoid unwanted ignition (knock) in ignition gas engines through use of sensors and rapid control technology. One of the most important aspects of the project is to investigate how rapid control technology enables efficient use of biogas.
The project takes place in close collaboration between academia and industry. As a PhD student, you will be stationed in industry and internships will be a natural aspect of the education
