Three-year Postdoc position in nanoscale materials for Nanophotonics, optoelectronics and sensing

RESEARCHER PROFILE:  Postdoc / R2: PhD holders
RESEARCH FIELD(S)1: Physical Sciences, Natural Sciences
MAIN SUB RESEARCH FIELD OR DISCIPLINES1: Physical Sciences, Natural Sciences

JOB /OFFER DESCRIPTION
As a postdoc, you will study and develop advanced nanoscale techniques for sensing and light-induced chemistry, based on metal nanocavites.

Are you interested in developing new skills at the frontier of science and technology for Nanophotonics and optoelectronics applications? Are you curious to learn how light-matter interaction at the nanoscale can be used to probe the environment, drive chemical reactions and conceive new hybrid architecture for metasurfaces and light-emitting sources? Are you motivated by challenges ranging from fundamental understanding to applications? Do you want to work in a dynamic team on an ambitious collaborative project? The SuNE team at the CINaM Lab, in Marseille (France) is hiring. Please consider applying to this postdoc position by contacting beniamino.sciacca@univ-amu.fr

The project is funded by ANR (SWAG-P) in collaboration with University Clermont-Auvergne (UCA). The goal of the project is to gain fundamental understanding of gap-plasmon resonators and explore new concepts, use such platform for light-assisted nanochemistry and biosensing to achieve novel ultracompact devices. These experiments will provide unprecedented insights at the nanoscale level of such resonators and elucidate the role of the interactions with the physico-chemical environment.

TYPE OF CONTRACT: TEMPORARY / JOB STATUS: FULL TIME / HOURS PER WEEK: 38.5
APPLICATION DEADLINE: 30/06/2024
ENVISAGED STARTING DATE: 01/09/2024
ENVISAGED DURATION: 36 months

JOB NOT FUNDED THROUGH AN EU RESEARCH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME

WORK LOCATION(S): Centre Interdisciplinaire de Nanoscience de Marseille, CINaM Lab UMR 7325, CNRS - Aix Marseille Université, Campus de Luminy, Avenue de Luminy, 13009 MARSEILLE

WHAT WE OFFER:
You will learn the manipulation of nanocrystals (via capillary forces or Langmuir blodgett techniques), nanofabrication strategies (spin-coating, e-beam lithography, etching), various techniques for optical (microscopy, spatially-resolved absorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence), chemical (FTIR, Raman, EDX) and structural (SEM, TEM, X-ray diffraction) characterisation. You will have the opportunity to attend international conference to present the result of your work and consortium symposia.

About the group

You will perform this project in the group “Surface Nanostructuring for Energy” under the supervision of Dr. Beniamino Sciacca in a highly dynamic and international team. The group has a strong background in synthetic chemistry, surface functionalisation, nanophotonics, nanofabrication, nanoscale photovoltaic devices, and in the characterisation of optical, structural, electrical and chemical properties of materials. The hosting environment is equipped with state-of-the art facilities in nanofabrication and material characterisation.

The Euraxess Center of Aix-Marseille Université informs foreign visiting professors, researchers, postdoc and PhD candidates about the administrative steps to be undertaken prior to arrival at AMU and the various practical formalities to be completed once in France: visas and entry requirements, insurance, help finding accommodation, support in opening a bank account, etc. More information on AMU EURAXESS Portal
